Research and Development Laboratory “Coordinate Measurements in Mechanical Engineering”

About the Lab

Research and Development Laboratory “Coordinate Measurements in Mechanical Engineering” (R&D Lab “CMME”), to Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Technical University - Sofia is specialized in metrological assurance and quality control in mechanical engineering. The staff of the laboratory includes 1 professor, 3 associate professors, five assistant professors and five PhD students. Research and development laboratory is aimed primarily at the development of instrumentation for measurement and control of the geometry of parts and systems. Result of this work are created by the team:

  • coordinate measuring machine KIMS;

  • instrumentation to control the shape and position of surfaces and axes using equidistant aerostatic effect of swiveling ,

  • optical, opto - electronic and laser systems for measurements of geometrical parameters,

  • systems for measuring the shape of the large-sized rotary objects on the basis of self-aligning prisms SMSP,

  • systems for measuring the shape of the base of the virtual axis and specialized versatile measuring equipment.

R&DL "CMME" has a precision measuring equipment with the relevant calibration certificates .

Activities

The laboratory performs a number of tasks for the needs of industry and research organizations such as:

  • Measurement of geometrical and mechanical parameters of objects with high accuracy ;

  • Measurement of the microgeometry of surfaces ;

  • Verification and calibration of measuring instruments ;

  • Metrological expertise;

  • Development of methods and means of measurement.

Projects and Partners

Under contract with leading national and international organizations of the team performed laboratory measurements of:

  • The geometry of the turbine shafts of NPP - Kozloduy ;

  • The geometry of the modules and systems for the new linear accelerator "SPIRAL- 2 " of GANIL- France ;

  • The geometry of the modules and systems to develop new linear accelerator XFEL at DESY (Deutsches Elektronen Synchrotron) - Germany.
