NDT Lab at the Mechanical Engineering Faculty, TUS was established in 1987. The laboratory team has extensive expertise and experience in testing and evaluation of components for electrical power plants, for equipment in chemical, automotive and other industries, for aircraft, rail and ship transportation and military equipment. The research activities cover inspection and monitoring, material characterization, imaging and advanced materials. The results are used to develop new techniques and optimize conventional technologies for identifying and sizing flaws or inclusions in metals, ceramics, alloys and advanced composite materials.

NDT methods employed ensure that a given product complies with industry and company standards and alsothat they meet economy and delivery requirements. NDT Lab provides companies with NDT consultancy services to help them in solving problems and selecting the method and application thatbest fit their specific situation and projects.

NDT Lab is accredited to offer NDT training courses in accordance with the International Standard ISO 9712 (former European Standard EN 473) and the recommended practices of the American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT). The training is available in Bulgarian, English, and Russian languages.
